Avon's decision to abandon trading in the Republic of Ireland should cause Avon reps in the UK to question whether their loyalty and hard work could all be for nothing and their businesses laid to waste as a result of Avon's worldwide cost cutting measures.
For their distributors in Ireland it is a shattering blow with many people in that distressed country badly in need of the little extra cash that their Avon round earned them. It certainly does not do Avon's reputation any good with regard to the concerns of it's own distributors. If they can do this in Ireland why not the UK?
It's been a puzzle for some time as to how Avon have been able to recruit new Avon reps considering all the negatives that surround their business.
There are so many Avon reps in the UK alone it is extremely difficult for any individual to build a decent income. Territories are so tiny that to to be able to sell sufficient product to earn commission is really difficult, and it's so expensive to run with catalogues being changed very three weeks.
Building a team may help but with something like 600,000 people in the UK already registered as Avon distributors people are going to find life very tough.
I have to register an interest here in that I am an independent distributor with FM group, an exciting young company with an extremely bright future that many people are finding to offer far better prospects.
For one thing there are none of the restrictive practices that Avon enforce such as minimum orders for commission, FM agents earn money on every sale. There is no waiting for commission, your profit is pocketed immediately your customer pays you and what's more the commission (profit) levels are far higher.
And unlike Avon, FM is a highly profitable business and not weighed down by massive multi-billion dollar debts.
For anyone suffering from Avon's betrayal and looking to replace their Avon business it costs nothing to look at what FM can offer. Just take a look here: http://www.fmforperfume.com/barrieg or http://www.fragrances.fm/barrie
